Ingredients

Scale
  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 220 g unsalted butter, cold (cut into cubes)
  • 110 g water
  • 1 kg apples (Pink Lady, Royal Gala, or Fuji)
  • 75 g unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 190 g brown sugar
  • 1¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1¼ tbsp cornstarch
  • ¼ tsp salt (for filling)
  • 2½ tbsp water (for filling)
  • Vanilla ice cream (or your preferred flavor)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pie Crust: Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl. Add cold butter and mix until crumbly. Gradually add cold water until dough forms. Wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Apple Filling: Peel, core, and slice apples. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter; add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, salt, and water. Cook until tender but firm.
  3. Assemble the Pie: Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Roll out half of the chilled dough for the bottom crust and place in pie dish. Fill with apple mixture and cover with top crust; cut slits for steam vents.
  4. Bake: Place pie on a baking sheet and bake for about 50–60 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Serve: Allow cooling slightly before serving slices topped with vanilla ice cream.
