  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (alcohol-free)
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 oz unsweetened chocolate (melted)
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts, pistachio)
  • Green and red food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Gradually mix in the flour on low speed until fully incorporated.
  5. Divide the dough into three equal portions; add melted chocolate to one part, chopped nuts to another, and leave the last part plain.
  6. Color the dough: mix green food coloring into one portion and red into another.
  7. Roll each colored dough into logs and stack together to form a tri-colored log.
  8. Chill wrapped in plastic wrap for about 90 minutes.
  9. Slice chilled log into rounds about ¼ inch thick and bake for about 10 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  10. Cool on baking sheets before transferring to wire racks.
