Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 11 ounces turkey kielbasa (sliced)
  • 1 yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 carrots (peeled and cut into half-moons)
  • 1 garlic clove (minced)
  • 1 tsp sweet paprika
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 5 cups chicken broth
  • ¼ head savoy cabbage (cored and chopped)
  • 3 tbsp cheese spread
  • 12 pierogi (cheese and potato filling)
  • 3 tbsp chopped fresh dill

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add sliced turkey kielbasa and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove from pot.
  2. Sauté minced garlic, diced onion, and carrots for about 3 minutes until softened. Stir in sweet paprika and ground cumin.
  3. Add chicken broth to the pot and bring to a boil. Stir in chopped cabbage, cover, and simmer on medium-low for 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in cheese spread until melted. Add pierogi and cook until they float; fresh pierogi take about 3-5 minutes, frozen may take up to 8 minutes.
  5. Turn off heat, stir in cooked kielbasa and chopped dill, then season with freshly ground black pepper to taste.
