  • 2 sticks (226 g) butter
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Prepare three 6-inch cake pans by greasing and lining them with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the cake flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda; set aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix the milk, sour cream, and vanilla; set aside.
  4. Using a mixer, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually add egg whites while mixing on low speed.
  5. Alternately add dry ingredients and milk mixture to the butter mixture until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let cakes cool in pans for about 20 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
